A post by Cr@ig P@xton on yonder board has
posted something about how a forthcoming book on the "Joseph Smith Papers" is gonna blow the dung pile at FARMS
Is this a direct hit on the dung pile at BYU-FARMS affectionately known as "The Limited Geography Theory(LGT)" which supposes the entire Book of Mormon occurred in a still-to-be-discovered mo'crocosm somewhere in Meso America.
Among the many new discoveries in this compilation of all of Joseph Smith’s personal papers is a non-canonized revelation where in Joseph (god) declares that Moroni stood on the very hill known as Cumorah in what is now upstate New York and watched with his own eyes the destruction of his people by the Lamanites.
If this is true, then this places the great battles of the Book of Mormon in the place that BYU-FARMS fears the most, The Hill Cumorah in upstate NY.
Can anyone substantiate this?
Tal, I saw your celebratory post.
Is the LGT in the intesive care unit with do-not-resuscitate orders?
Should we start a collection to buy Danny C. Peterson a gold plated shovel with the inscription "Good Luck at Cumorah"?

I personally know someone involved in this and have heard no such thing. If you are nice I could ask about it.
My guess, it is unfaith promoting rumor.

"non-canonized"
That's the key word. It won't make any difference to anyone, since it's non-canonized, and therefore has no bearing on doctrine. If it's not doctrine, no one cares.

Hi Jason,
Would you please ask about this... pretty please with sugar on top? :-)
And Harmony is correct... it is just opinion. No problem. Joseph Smith just had a "superficial understanding" of the Book of Mormon.
Nothing to worry about!

Do you suspect that FARMS has one or two people writing attacking rebuttals to this piece even before it is released?
