Kudos, Shades!
Ok Shades,
You have now officially won a spot in my heart, for your blogs on the FAIR exiles and just your attention to detail over how UTTERLY STUPID the goings on are over there.
I know that some TBMs on here will say that you're just causing trouble, but I'm sorry, FAIR's attempts at fascim are just too much not to be laughed at publicly. And the fact that you are willing to tell the stories of LDS and non alike is laudable. The "other" site wouldn't have ever done such a thing.
Good job, man!

THANKS!!
Thank you, GIMR, for the compliments!
You've officially made my day!

What I find terribly ironic about your contempt for FAIR is that I was booted from FAIR specifically because of my posts to you. They were protecting you from me. And, now you call their actions UTTERLY STUPID.
At that time many of the FAIRites gave you the benefit of the doubt, and attempted to befriend and consol and understand you. And, now you call their actions UTTERLY STUPID.
I am sure they may now be wondering about you: "with friends like that, who needs enemies".
Whereas, I quickly saw through your fiegned re-fellowship, right to your race-baiting, manipulative, back-stabbing, and self-centered heart. But, I don't consider FAIR as UTTERLY STUPID. I just consider them good-hearted and perhaps a bit foolish to have trusted the likes of you.

I can still view FAIR,,,but you are not missing much....they are allowing a bunch of stupid stuff on there now..
All sorts of new names are popping up..and they are are being allowed to ask and post some pretty funny and stupid questions.....
Like what do GA's do all day
whether food storage is a good idea
Is it better to be disfellowshipped...or excommunicated...
Some of the posts are pretty comical...it's like they know we are reading their posts....WOW
Charity seems a little lost right now...so does Hammer
Many of the regular A-Holes seem a little lost
When I wake up I will be hungry....but this feels so good right now aaahhhhhh........

So....the truth comes out. You were, self admittedly, banned from FAIR for harrassing another poster. And you're PROUD of this? And continuing to do it over here?
Talk about cognitive distortion! You need to go into your own therapy, Wade.

What I find terribly ironic is your clear signs of cognitive distortion here. At the very least you are "mindreading" ("I saw through your fiegned [sic] re-fellowship, right to your [insert various malicious words] self-centered heart."). This is also emotional reasoning (You feel GIMR is a bad person, so you feel justified in attacking here), labeling ("enemy," "the likes of you"), personalization ("They were protecting you from me."), magnification (the re-fellowship is feigned, but the perceived maliciousness was not), disqualifying the positive.
I could go on, but you get the point. I'm not meaning this as an attack, Wade, but I think it bears pointing out that your approach in pointing out cognitive distortions is done from a distance and is highly subjective. I suspect that like your Glenn Beck post analysis, I could pick one of your posts at random and find some cognitive distortion, were I so inclined (I'm not). You've shown your ability to find cognitive distortion in my posts and experiences. I think you might want to rethink that approach.

I also find it ironic that I haven't been booted from FAIR and you have. I guess I'm just lucky, eh? Maybe FAIR loves heretics like me, who can hold their tongue. Who knows how they spin the roulette wheel over there, and boot some people, but keep others.

I must object to GIMR being bad-mouthed. Her on again off again relationship with the LDS Church was not feigned. She initially responded to the Apostle of Color thread as a matter of interest and on a request by me. I greatly appreciated it because I disliked so many orthodox Mormons accusing me of racism for merely suggesting that the Church would benefit from having an Apostle of Color. It never occurred to me ahead of time that there would be such a strong and negative reaction to this idea at FAIR. GIMR's support on this perhaps revolutionary idea for the Church, should be lauded and not condemned.
Manipulative, back-stabbing, and self-centered heart? That insult is really beneath you Wade. Perhaps you are still smarting from your banishment at FAIR. I know I am. However, FAIR decided you were out of line for your interaction with GIMR, she should not be the recipient of your anger. She actually has the claim for the greater anger: Many were rude to her over there and tried to invalidate her experiences. Juliann in particular rode her case. I think it would be in both your interests to release your anger. Apologizing to GIMR would be a meaningful gesture.

Perhaps that's (many were rude to her over there and tried to invalidate her experiences) why I feel such sympathy for GIMR. Been there, done that. Things that have actually happened to me are regularly invalidated on FAIR, ZLMB, and now on Mr Itchy's blog. When that happens, the poster is trying to invalidate everything about me, my life, my experiences, my testimony, my worldview, because they simply cannot believe Saints would act like that. Well, guess what: they do. They have in the past and they still do, no matter how much Pres Hinckley hammers them about it in conference. What happened to GIMR to invalidate her experience is unfortunately typical; I should know: it happened to me too.

In a way you are correct John. One can find things like personalization and mind reading and labeling in most any post. Does that make it cognitive distortion? Of course not. People can mind read correctly, they can make accurate personalizations, their emotions can be spot on, and so forth. What makes them cognitive distortions is the cognitive distortions, not the "distance" or the personalizations and so forth themselves. Wiki lists those as areas as vulnerabilities for cognitive distortions. The same is true for fallacies. For example, someone may attack the person (i.e. ad hominem) with out it being a fallacy. It is only a fallacy when the personal attack is irrelevant to invalidating or validating an argument (such as: "Mr. X is wrong because he is stupid" as opposed to "Mr. X lied as evinced by A, B, and C").
My questions regarding flash's post was intended to point out the cognitive distortions in the areas of vulnerability. To me, they were obvious distortions. Your critique of me above, were not. For example, my mind reading proved to be correct (GIMR ended up race baiting and back stabbing).
Does this help?
Thanks -Wade Englund-
