What Moves the FARMS Writers into Action?

Post by _Henry Jacobs »

Advancing a debate, pursuing truth and educating the public? Not really.

I think in this quote Dr. P shows his thought process and what he perceives as the calling of the FARMS writers. After Holley's book had been recommended to readers of the former FAIR board,

Dr. P wrote:

I confess to being surprised that some still think Vern Holley's ideas impressive. Here's an old review of Holley:

I suppose, maybe, that one of these days perhaps we'll have to do a little more extensive critique of Mr. Holley's proposal

The FARMS guys seem function like firewatchers. The message boards are their hilltops and influential church critics who create doubt are the smoke. Dr. P admits it may be time to call out the fire crews for a "more extensive critique" of Mr. Holley proposal. I guess the first one just wasn't extensive enough.

Fahrenheit 451 comes to mind. Keep folks in the parlor, happy and self-deluded.

They're about defending their [and the churchs leaders] beliefs about LDS church, LDS doctrine, LDS history, and LDS archaeology.

Defending a belief has nothing to do with truth.

It might be a good time to call in the Midgley Detective Agency, and have them cross examine everyone who has ever come into contact with the so-called Mr. Holley, to see what items they may uncover.
