The Webelo wrote:I know that "Schryver"/"Provis" occasionally mentioned his mission in southern Italy - and it is common knowledge at BYU that Bill Hamblin served in the Italy South Mission. Plus, I think it's interesting that it was Bill Hamblin who suddenly appeared to support Schryver in his debate with Vogel about the KEP. Are Hamblin/Schryver/Provis the same person? I don't know. I've also heard that Schryver was Lou Midgley undercover. Either way, I'm pretty sure that there is no real person named William Schryver. He was just one of several sockpuppets being used by someone at FARMS who wanted to keep his real identity a secret. Also interesting is that Schryver has now disappeared from the FAIR/MAAD board. No posts for several weeks. The question is: who is he now?
Believe it or not, I actually find the "Hamblin-is-Schryver" theory to be pretty compelling. After all, Prof. Hamblin has been remarkably well-behaved in comparison to his colleague, DCP. I can really only think of two big embarrassments for Hamblin (the Watson letter, and the "Metcalfe is Butthead" incident), whereas the list of foul-ups for Prof. Peterson is long indeed. Perhaps the reason for this is that Prof. Hamblin engages in the most controversial subjects by way of his sockpuppet, Will Schryver. An interesting (not to mention hilarious) theory in any case.
Anyhow, I just wondered what others thought. It seems clear that, at the very least, "Schryver" lives in Utah, probably in the vicinity of SLC, due to his investigations into Dan Vogel's research. Also, there does indeed appear to be somebody called "Will Schryver," though whether this is a pseudonym or not remains to be seen. I suppose the Lou Midgley thesis is plausible, too, though for whatever reason I'm leaning towards Hamblin....
All of this could be a ploy on "Will's" part to throw people off the scent, too. Perhaps he felt that he'd dug himself into such a deep hole that it was time to re-tool by means of a fresh sockpuppet. I also wondered if he was in some way behind the "purchase" of the MAD board.
Okay, enough speculating. For now, anyways... ; )
