You know, this is something I've not seen much on. I know that a few religions have ceremonies that involve drinking. (most do in some form or another as far as I've seen) But I've not seen anything specific on what most religions say in regards to alcohol. (at least in any sense considered within WoW)

Does anyone know what differing religions think of drinking, or how some use alcohol for interesting religious ceremonies, or even a few drinks that are considered "holy" in a sense?

As one such example, within Asatru, Mead (honey wine)(can also be known as abrosia) is considered holy and is drunk at pretty much every ceremony i can name.(not to drunkeness, that's frowned upon)

Well, in my church, I think it's pretty much agreed that if you choose to drink, it's between you and God. We have people that bring wine to the adult Christmas party, for example. I haven't really talked to anyone about it, though I know a good many of them drink. However, a good many don't drink, either.

I guess it all boils down to personal choice and responsibility.

As far as religious ceremonies go, we use grape juice in communion since we allow children to partake.

I know growing up, I went many times to a Lutheran church, and they use real wine for communion. In fact, my adopted dad indicates that one of the reasons he does go there is just so he can get a drink before noon on Sunday. :-)

Part of my family is Baptist, as I once was, and I'm pretty sure none of them drink at all, either at home, or in church.
