Mormons are at best mysterious and at worst wierd!!!!

Post by _Mary »

I didn't say it, it was just on the BBC 10.00pm news here in the UK!!!

All about Mitt R of course.

Mentioned some interesting things about how Mormonism is percieved.

Blacks not holding priesthood until 70's,......
God having a wife....
Secret Oaths.....

Is any publicity good publicity? I think even here in the UK where there is a great interest in US politics,
Mormonism is going to get a fair amount of air time through Mitt Romney.

I wonder if the church will thank him for it???

You forgot:

Woman not holding the Priesthood at all
Men not having ovaries
The Vagina Monologues have never been performed on church property, and
Donnie Osmound isn't married to Angelina Jolie.

Oh, and hello Kerry, good to see you here. If you're still into LDS apologetics, we can certainly use your background and scholarly abilites in this forum. Valuim and Prozac are available during log in for a nominal fee...

So what did you teach your 2nd graders about the difference between fact and opinion? They aren't at opposite ends of a spectrum. Give us a lesson.

Sure Marg, good ta see you again....... I taught them that when (I was using the book here) they read a sentence which states - "The ball is round" (and it shows a *round* ball, then that is a fact. When they read a sentence which states, "I think the ball is pretty." That is an opinion.

On aformer thread I read Guardiands say:
Guardiands:
you should trust such a metaphysical experience which is very very subjective.

The interpretation, and hence opinion, is that the experience is very, very subjective, i.e., in the context of his/her post, false. That's interpretation. Subjective is assumed to always mean false and not real. THAT is opinion.

It is my opinion that I know you from another board in which you called yourself Damned Dope, is that what you mean by "again"?

Right except you are giving them the impression that opinions don't use facts. In some cases opinions are based on feelings, subjective with no knowledge or little knowledge on the subject but opinions can range from being based on having no knowledge on a subject to having a great deal of knowledge or facts from which one reasons to an educated or expert opinion. So facts and opinions are not opposite ends of a spectrum.
