Debating Mormonism - Is it Worth the Energy?
OK, I'm sure that got everyone's attention, but I was thinking this morning that I really don't have very strong feelings anymore towards apologists in general or the ones I know personally. As a believer, I used to cringe at some of the tactics used by apologists, and I've certainly been angered and hurt by some personal nastiness in the past. Someone said, for example, that reading posts from Pahoran is entertaining, and I realized that even his most caustic accusations do little more than make me chuckle to myself.
Maybe it's just that, having stepped back some, I realize that these issues are not so momentous, after all. The church seems in the end rather small and inconsequential in the eternal scheme of things.
Has anyone else (critic or believer) found that they just don't have as much emotional investment in debating Mormonism as they used to?

I love visiting this board, though. I've met some neat people here. :)
Same here. Of course, I've met some nut cases here, too. ;-)
How much do you want to bet that the title of this thread will at some point be used to show what haters we are over here?

Hi Runtu...
What one writes tell you more about who is writing than about what they are writing.
I think nasty, mean spirited people who enjoy attacting others are dealing with personal issues... I mean seriously, one doesn't get that way without some reason.
Everytime someone called me some name it reminded me of little children calling each other poopoo head, or slime bucket... you just have to have a little chuckle and let it go.

Precisely. I used to take it personally, but no longer.
And for the record, I do not hate Juliann or anyone else.

We use the word 'hate' so lightly sometimes. Like "don't ya just hate that?" (a comment after I spilled a pop in my lap at lunch the other day) or (from my daughter's 7th graders) "my PE teacher is a hater" (when the PE teacher harbors no hatred in her heart at all, although that comment always generates a heated discussion from those who think highly of that particular PE teacher). I think very few of us actually hates anyone, even those who think they do. Hate is what sends people to live in caves in Afghanistan. Hate is what fuels the burning of a cross on a lawn. Hate is not the norm.

No, go ahead. I thought of that, too.
Thanks, Bud! :)
I hope you approve of the new title. PM me if you want something else.

Perfect. I think it's worth the effort, but it isn't worth the emotional investment I used to make.
