No Joe, no Jeff...

Post by _Roger Morrison »

On the news last night i watched the Warren Jeff trial, THE topic of which, Polygamy and its practice in the FLDS Church...

Generally speaking, the life of Joseph Smith i've taken with sympathy, and respect for the man's imagination, ambition, and achievements. I followed the LDS path for several decades, benefiting more than not, as do most who put energy into whatever--7DA, JW, RCC, Scientology, etc...

HOWEVER, dull as i might be, the light came through: "No Joe, and LDSism with its 'goods' & 'bads', no Jeffs with his FLDSism & its 'goods' (to those who believe so) and its 'bads' to those who judge it so!"

From that perspective, is there a clearer view of mainstream LDSism's roots, past-practices, and current policies being less than divinely directed?

What PRACTICAL "truths" will be presented at the coming Conferences that cannot be found elsewhere?

Warm regards, Roger

No, to the first question. Mormonism, read Joseph Smith, is directly responsible for the abuses clearly manifested in the FLDS practice of polygamy today.

To the second question: None. But, apparently, from following the thread over on the mad-ness board, they are suggesting that something "historical" is about to happen. I am surely going to tune in for that!

Hi Roger...

What PRACTICAL "truths" will be presented at the coming Conferences that cannot be found elsewhere?

Well, if we look at the last several years of conferences and see what practical "truths" have been presented, that cannot be found elsewhere, we learn that women can not wear more than one pair of earrings, tattoos are out... what else?

So, who knows what practical "truths" will be given next week?

There is a rumor like this every General Conference. I think it stems from the deep longing among the true believers that Wrinkley will actually say something . . . prophetic, or at least profound, during General Conference.

Unfortunately for them, they will continue to wait and to long.

Prophet of God . . . Not! More like Prophet of the Banal.
God . . . "who mouths morals to other people and has none himself; who frowns upon crimes, yet commits them all; who created man without invitation, . . . and finally, with altogether divine obtuseness, invites this poor, abused slave to worship him ..."

Perhaps we will learn about our next real estate acquisition: the Utah state capital building.

There is much in Mormonism that is new and good. However, that which is new isn't good and that which is good isn't new.

I kind-of like the sound of that! Although, i'm still working with the lyrics... "...new isn't good...good isn't new."???
