This is easy to tie into Mormonism. The two quotes that Cog supplied fit right with Mormon "truth" claims. I just don't know why Cog thinks it is appropriate for Mormonism but inappropriate for the AGW movement. What's the difference between lying for the lord and lying for the greater good of the movement? Besides, even with the current backlash against Gore and global warming, there is still far, far, far more scientific evidence backing up human caused global warming than there ever will be backing up Mormonism.

I think he's drawing a comparison to the prevalent Mormon attitude that even if the church weren't true it is a healthy lifestyle and a good way to raise kids and we should still follow the prophets because their counsel has never failed.
