Yes indeed, folks, on Tuesday, April 17, 2007 at exactly 3:31 a.m. Mountain Standard Time, our very own beloved Beastie worked out her salvation and achieved Godhood (or should I say "Goddesshood")!

Oh my, when it comes to Beastie, where do I begin? Should I mention her mastery of Mesoamerican minutiae which allows her to go head-to-head with the Mopologetic greats? Or should I perhaps mention her willingness to obtain and read all the books which the Mopologists bandy about and actually call them on their distortions? Or do I begin with her admirable articulation and proficiency with the English language? Or do I mention her always-calm, always-reasonable demeanor?

Aw heck, I give up. There's too much about Beastie which is praiseworthy, as I'm sure many of you agree. So if anyone has anything nice to say about Beastie, or perhaps congratulations on her newfound goddess status, now is the time and this is the place to do so.

While I do not always agree with her she is certainly a brillant lady! Oh and Beastie I also do agree with you on a lot of stuff as well.

Geez, I didn't even notice. Did I really become a goddess already? My, how time flies.

You all are very gracious. You could have made remarks such as "beastie is a total geek who buries her nose in books about strange past cultures", but you were too kind for that.

Why beastie? One of my books about ancient Mesoamerican claimed that one of the very first identified goddesses in the Mesoamerican pantheon was a maternal figure whom they named "beastie". I've never seen a picture of beastie, so I can only imagine why they felt that was an appropriate nickname, but having seen many other Mesoamerican gods, I can imagine. Perhaps she looked like this Mesaomerican goddess:

So, unbeknownst to you all, I've been calling myself a goddess all along.

I'm fond of the nick for other reasons - in fact, it has become my favorite screen name. (trixie, from the heroine of my youth, Trixie Belden, independent girl detective, SevenofNiine, ironically originated from Pahoran) I enjoy it because I know people think "beast" when they see it, and yet, it's really a mother goddess.

Also, to link to my book nerdiness, I loved the book A Wrinkle in Time when I was growing up, and one of my favorite characters was a fuzzy, blind alien named Aunt Beast.

My boyfriend loves the nickname so much that he is naming the new motorcycle he is designing "beastie" as well.

I suspect that, from now until the end of internet time, from henceforth I shall always be known as "beastie".
