Perhaps my favorite entry among the many excellent ones on Dr. Shades's blog is the one that lists the "Missing In Action" banned posters. It goes thusly:

The following is a list of MA&D Exiles who are "missing in action." In other words, I don't know their stories and I don't know how to contact them in order to get their stories. There is a lot of history behind many of these names, and most or all would merit great entries, but alas, until they resurface they'll just languish on this list:

* Froggie (beloved member of many a message board)
* Ref (banned possibly for challenging DCP over the missing--and apocryphal--2nd Watson Letter)

* John Corrill (frequent champion of downtrodden polygamous women of yore, earned no lack of ire from Juliann and her crew of harpies for this)

* Seneca, a.k.a. "Zedius," "Cicero," "Euclid," and "Primus" (listed as being in "Purgatory," an appelation the MA&D mods reserve for only those they really, truly hate)

* Serious (an LDS defender caustic enough to get banned, widely rumored to be a sock-puppet of "Hammer." For some reason, Serious is also in "Purgatory")

* nao crer, a.k.a. "Jim Huston" (also in "Purgatory")

* squallan (yet another member of "Purgatory")

* bat, a.k.a. "captive thinker" (has a long history on MA&D, being one of its very first critics. Has an equally long history of being banned but reregistering under different names almost immediately afterward)

* Chozah (the sockpuppet Will Schryver used to insult Dan Vogel while simultaneously, under "Will Schryver," inviting Dan to be interviewed for an amateur documentary on ex-Mormons)

I felt that this was worth bringing to the main forum, in case anyone knows where these folks are.

I was also curious about the "Purgatory" appellation. I have a pretty good idea as to why *I* have been consigned to Purgatory, but does anyone know what these other four posters did to merit it? In particular, I'm am wondering about "Serious" and "squallan"....

I know about Cowpie -- that was me. I thought that name would keep TBMs from jumping all over me, but they don't really mind getting their feet dirty, haha. I've used a lot of names on these boards over the years, but does that make me a sockpuppet? They kept accusing me of being in cahoots with someone, which was pretty nuts, I'm just a little old middle-aged white woman, and what you see is what you get. What did I do to get banished forever (and can't even look at that board anymore)? Well, nothing except being right all the time!! Anyway, it's nice to be remembered.

Aha! Another piece of the puzzle falls into place! I'm am fairly certain that the person they thought you were in "cahoots" with was Out of My Misery, a.k.a. "Cowpie's Cheerleader."

No, I don't. You really, REALLY have to piss them off, I think. You are going to need to go head to head w/ DCP on some issue which is potentially very embarrassing for the Church. It is sort of like Yoda's admonishment to Luke that he must "confront Vader" before he can finally call himself a Jedi.
