Is being a Mormon like being in the military?

On the PBS Thread on the MAD Board a TBM defended Oaks comments about not criticizing church leaders.
What do you think? Is Mormonism like the military? Are Mormon rank and file expected to obey at the same level that military rank and file are?
If this is true, shouldn't investigators be warned ahead of time that getting baptized is like joining the military?
we don't criticize the Lord's anointed. why? because in any organization it is well known that when the leadership is murmured about it causes contention in the ranks and a falling out of favor with the head honcho.
it's the same in the military....only they call it a red flag and perhaps eventual Article 15 and perhaps eventual dishonorable discharge and in our Church we call it Apostasy and excommunication...and separation from our Father in Heaven. It's not unique to our Church, by any means. I didn't know if you knew but thought it appropriate to point out.
