Possibly going back to Utah

I have a possible job opportunity (and it looks like a good one), and it would involve moving to Utah (the job is in Provo). I haven't been back to Utah in 5 years or so, but it would be much closer to our families (hers in Idaho, mine in So. California).
But, wow, Utah County. My wife had said to me a couple of weeks ago that I should be glad I'm in Texas because it would be difficult to be in my exmo/less-active position if we were in Utah.
I'm going to pursue the opportunity, but I wonder if it's normal to have such mixed feelings about the place.

Could you live in the southern end of SL County and commute to Utah County? That way you will encounter more diversity.

True. Who knows? Living there as an exmo would be a completely different experience.

I live in the UC now (that's utah county) and it's not too bad. But maybe I've just lost touch with reality.
However, we will probably move to salt lake sometime. I don't worry about myself, just my kids. It will be much easier on them not being such outcasts.

That's the other consideration. Other than my oldest son, who will stay in Texas at college, no matter what, my kids are all active Mormons.

Well, it won't be a big deal then. If they're active, they'll fit right in in Provo.
I was thinking of my kids being inactive/exmos, and being considered outcasts in the UC. Won't be as big of a problem in SL.

If you do go, when would you be moving?
