He left off the part about believing the Bible is the word of god "SO LONG AS IT IS TRANSLATED CORRECTLY" and that they "ENCOURAGE" their members to not smoke or drink. LIES!
Then he brandishes the measly 810 million dollars(total value not cash) that they have given out in aid.. and says they do not broadcast that... LIAR!! Every time they do any aid they make a post on their news site and Desnews/Trib runs an article... remember the media blitz with Katrina? and then they send their volunteers in with stupid shirts labeled Mormon hands or some other BS..
Thanks for the 'link'... GA, Rosebud seems mellower today on TV than i remember in person as adjudicater decades ago... Certainly PP's comments are valid in substance however one sees them...
As a CEO of LDS Inc, he served his assignment well--according to the 'rules' of tempered public engagement...not a 'debate' or sworn full-disclosure of details...
His admission of admin difficulties was a facing of reality that could bode well. Could lead them to acknowledge the fact that volunteer, part-time, over worked/stressed urban amateurs are just not up to the task today. I certainly hope so for the sake of 'leader's' families, and members. Maybe "...translated correctly..." is being dropped??? That he didn't mention the church from other than a local, not a world, perspective seemed interesting...
Has the 'funding-program-for-Missionaries' changed? I recall when those from families, especially in developing countries, who couldn't afford the costs, were subsidized from the "Church Missionary Fund"???
There must have been agreement to not mention the word "Temple" which any interview of 'real-intent' would include.
All in all, it was a good PR piece that Missionaries, and personal empiricalism will be quick to sabotage.
This modern stuff is great, eh? Warm regards, Roger
