This was interesting:

He also noted a poster here had e-mailed him asking how he dealt with attacks orchestrated by the likes of FARMS and FAIR, specifically mentioning a certain gonzo Crockett that a few of us had fun with some months ago . . . He replied,

>And someone from XMormons contacted me about how I respond to the BYU/FARMS/Church attacks on "Blood of the Prophets." The answer is, I don't since they are dishonest hatchet jobs. But I'm getting fed up with the horses*** hurled at the book and if I wasn't so busy, I'd post a response. But the book stands as written, no matter how many lies The Faithful sling at it.

Some great quotes on the Amazon page for his book:
Blood of the Prophets is an excellent example of the Mormon fraud. Mormonism is no more a Christian denomination than is radical Islam. Read this book to learn the truth about the dictator Brigham Young and the basic philosphy of the Mormon Church that survives today. The only thing that has changed is that the current Mormon leaders are probably not ordering hits on innocent people or descenting members of the Mormon Church. The corruption and anti-Christ character of this global monstrosity goes unchanged. I was an ultra-active Mormon for over 46 years. I was a High Priest and Mormon temple worker in this fraudulent religion before I began to study outside the box of "approved Mormon dribble", where I readily discovered the truth. If you want to learn the truth about this era of Mormon history read this book.

Wow. I am so underwhelmed by the objectivity and unbiased report of a rant about , not a review, of this book. Course since all you do is rant PP I am sure you just loved this one.

Idiots

As much as I agree with you that this review is an angry rant, you must understand it's hard for most people not to get angry and passionate when they learn about MMM. It doesn't surprise me and should be expected. What disappoints me is the lack of passion and the "get over it" attitude from the LDS side.

Nothing screams objective professionalism quite like responding to criticism by simply dismissing it as "horses***."

I think he's calling the hysterical charges flung around online bbs threads "horses***", and not actual, serious criticism. You've seen this over on MAD, Steuss; the mention of his name has the same effect on many posters there as a full moon has on a werewolf.

There is no question that MMM is an ugly stain in LDS history. I do not excuse it at all. But it has no bearing on whether the LDS Church is true or not or on what the LDS Church is today. Critics using it to beat the church over is just as wrong as the church dodging the fact that some LDS persons perpetrated this and the circumstances surrounding it were at least aggravated by strong rhetoric from top leaders.

Biut it no more makes the LDS Church what it is today then the crusades make Christianity what it is today. Histories of all organizations have ugly things in them because humans often do ugly things.

As for Bagley, he may be certian about some things. Other historians that are just as smart and knowledgable if not more so disagree. Bagly is to full of himself.

HELLO?

Much of WHAT LDS Inc embodies today came from Brigham Young and his ilk back THEN.

His character back then have bearing on what you as a cult member believe and defend.

You are sitting there in your one piece masonic jesus-jammine jumpsuit magic undies because of Brigham Young.
