They keep epople IN the church more than tehy get them out. No convincing argument against Mormonism can or has come out of the EV's.

On top of this is the act that Mormons do not take them seriously, as its jst a different interpretation fo a dangerous, violent and bigoted book.

Thank you EV's for keeping me in the church, even if it was five minutes longer than if I were to have not taken the skeptical escape route.

The problem EVs face is the Bible.

They believe all of the bull in that book, but dismiss the miracles found in the Book of Mormon and LDS history.

Remember it is spelled Bible, but pronounced buy-bull.

Here is what Porter had to say in a recent post:

Bingo.

Most active Mormons do not remain members based on knowledge of Mormonism or Mormon History. That is where you fall short.

So, Mercury,

If EV's kept you in the church, even 5 minutes longer (etc.) what's keeping you in the church now? According to what Porter said, you should no longer be a member. But to be fair he did say "most" not "all".

Isn't it interesting, Porter, that Mercury chose to make this thread not long after I posted a series of 4 year old posts I made regarding the topic of Christianity vs Mormonism as Cult?

Funny, that.

I suppose now I should repost old posts of discussions where the veracity of the Bible, inerrancy, translations, datings of the Gospels, inconsistencies, Dead Sea Scrolls or literalism were the topics.

Nah, I'll just let you keep making it up your stereotypical fantasies as you go along! Ain't it fun, though?

So then, you literally believe that all events occured as they are written in the Bible?

Porter,

Let me just remark that you couldn't have lasted 5 seconds on the board I started on. You read an entire post and come up with yet another stereotype...this time, of a fundamentalist Christian. If you ask me, and you haven't, not much has changed about your thinking since you left the church. You churn out one defensive stereotype after another.

No, Porter, I don't think that all of the events occured as they are written in the Bible. Not all non-LDS are literalists, Porter. Hate to bust yer stererotypical bubble, buddy. And no one, could have deduced that based on a list of topics for discussion.

Oh wow you are so neat Jersey Girl.. I am so glad I did not start out on the same board as you did.. I would not have lasted 5.1 seconds...just reading about the old days on the boards scares me... I have to blink fast when I read about it... wow, I mean, was it like a board in a building? Did they even have modeems back then? Was it a chalk board or just a board? that's neat Jersey Girl. I hope it was not a real board, cuz you would get slivers and those might prevent you from writing on the board.. Did you write in cursive on the board? Older people are better at cursive you know..

It is an honor to have a non literalist EV on the board. So if adam and eve and their kids did not practice incest then where did all of the people come from? I cannot wait for your wonderful glorious explanation! Also where did noah go on his boating trip? Do you think they packed lunches? I wonder if noah would have liked watersking or wakeboarding better.. I bet he would have loved tubing behind his big ass yacht. I wonder if he packed sliced meats or just added a few extras cows and chickens and then just killed em on the boat. Man I bet he had some killer parties on his boat.

OMG, I never realized WHO I was chatting with. It is the world renowned Jersey Girl from the Jersey coast. I am about to piss myself.

When do you go on tour? I want to sit on the front row and take a pictURE of you speaking cuz you are a legend in the ev-mormon-cult communities..

Hey, does anyone have a bubble patch kit? I need one for the sterotypical brand..

Oh, Adam/Eve and Noah.

I think those were allegory and that your over blown remarks are defensive. The Bible isn't made up fully of "accounts", Porter. But I can understand why you frame it that way.
