Clothing

'Way back on Z, I once started a thread about what clothing we wore in heaven. Or if we wore any.

So, some questions:

1. Will we need to wear clothing in heaven? We wear it here for a variety of reasons, including keeping warm, protecting our skin from the sun, modesty, sensitivity to others' feelings. But why would we need to wear clothing in heaven?

2. If you have a personal vision of heaven, does clothing play any part in that?

3. If clothing became optional in this life, which option would you choose, and why?

4. Are your clothing choices now driven by society/culture or by your own innate sense?

PS. PP and Merc, this is not a thread about garments, so try to confine your comments to clothing in general please.

Hmmm....I never thought of Heaven as being one big happy nudist colony, but why not?

I personally could never quite believe that our bodies, so specifially designed for this environment would remain with us for eternity. It didn't make sense to me.

So... I go with the idea that there is no need for clothing because there is no need for a body of flesh and bones. :-)

I actually don't think heaven is a place to go to but if there was, then my best guess would be no bodies, no clothes, and no worries! ;-)

I always envisioned it somewhat the same way as truth dancer. No bodies, no clothing necessary.

I used to figure that we'd all be dressed the way Moroni was dressed for his visit to Joseph Smith, which would be a bit ironic to have perfected bodies and all dressed in the same boring robes. My idea of heaven would be to have a perfect body and access to outfits of every style imagined and unimagined ... but maybe playing dress-up for the rest of eternity is too frivolous a pursuit for the CK.

"Nakedness, that's too much of a costume!" (I think Sarah Bernhardt said that)

1. Not clothing as we understand it

2. Kinda, what I've seen shows that we are clad in light that morphs to our will. So you can wear whatever you want or nothing if you like.

3. I would probably wear less clothing than I do. If I could I'd stick to boxers or boxers and a t-shirt. For others depends entirely what they look like. Some people should definitely wear more clothing. With perfect bodies in heaven I'm not so picky.

4. Mine are driven by my budget and a general laziness. T-shirts, a few nicer shirts, and lots of jeans.

For the guys with a zillion Celestial Wives and a planet to populate, why bother getting dressed?

If the wives are always pregnant it would be maternity wear for eternity. Oh. My. God.

It would seem that because in the Celestrial kingdom, no one can enter therein if they are susceptable to lust or any other vise or sin. Therfore, clothing is probably not nescessary. But what of the lower Kindoms?
