grand key-word

[June 15, 1844. Saturday.] A.M. [Joseph Smith, the Prophet was] conversing with Dr. J.
Wakefield and others . . . spoke concerning key words. The g[rand] key word was the
first word Adam spoke and is a word of supplication. He found the word by the Urim and
Thummim. It is that key word to which the heavens is opened. [Journal of William
Clayton under above date.]

Is there still a grand key word revealed to temple-worthy Mormons? (I asked this question at MADB and they didn't just close it; they "moved" it, apparently into the oblivion of outer darkness where there is weeping and gnashing of threads.)

I won't answer the question directly, but you may find D&C 130 to be of interest:

10 Then the white stone mentioned in Revelation 2:17, will become a Urim and Thummim to each individual who receives one, whereby things pertaining to a higher order of kingdoms will be made known;
11 And a white stone is given to each of those who come into the celestial kingdom, whereon is a new name written, which no man knoweth save he that receiveth it. The new name is the key word.

Yes, I was aware of that; I guess I thought that the grand key-word was distinct from that.

The answer to that, CK, is "sort of"!

I wouldn't be comfortable posting the specifics. I have no desire to offend Latter-day Saints, nor to mistreat things I once regarded as sacred.

But, to give a general explanation...the temple expose's all describe a portion of the endowment that was changed, to avoid misunderstanding, before I ever went through the temple. As I understand it, Joseph Smith's original "grand key word" was given in the endowment till around the late 1970s, and since then what is given is what is understood to be a translation of the Adamic original.

Maybe you're joking, but according to Shades there will be no thread closures on MDB. You could, however, have it assigned to Outer Darkness, where posters can still comment. Right, Shades?

By the way, Scientific American had an article back in the '90s comparing Mithraic signs and keywords which appear to be similar to LDS ones, or "rights of passage" in the Spirit World.

Closing a thread at the request of the person opening it is a very different matter from closing a thread because the moderators dislike it. To have that kind of say over one's own thread is not unreasonable. But if someone else wants to open a thread on the same topic, that would be their thread, and not subject to arbitrary closure by the mods.
