Mormon mindset....

Post by _Polygamy Porter »

Tithing dollars at work was the topic on the Deseret News website this morning as the Key Bank building was imploded by LDS Inc to make way for the Mo'ega Mall.

The reader comments is the what I am saying would be "a Mormon mindset...":
California Reader @ Desnews.com wrote:Hey Deseret News,
It's really unfortunate that you find it necessary to take the name of God in vain in this article. Even if it is a quote, it's unnecessary.
It disturbs me that the newspaper owned by my own church chooses to print those kinds of words. You guys are unique, or at least you should be. Please stand up for clean speech. Please do not use the pages of the Deseret News to print profanity.

Another molly chimes in:

Runtu, I feel sorry for you bro.

*sigh*

Do these people grow up under rocks?

I feel for you, too, Runtu.

PP, is Deseret News really owned by the Church? I knew that it used to be, but I thought it was bought out by a Church member and privately owned.

There is no profanity in the article. It's in the video. So the complainer was a bit off target, since she complained about something that doesn't exist.

And yes, the church owns both the DN and the Trib. They control most of the news in UT, through KSL radio and tv, the DN, and the Trib.

I think they were referring to this:

the implosion cost, but they said it was more than $1 million.

You think paying over a million dollars to blow up a building is profane?

There are two videos attached, and I didn't hear any profanity in either of them as well? Was the "Good grief" or the "Holy Cow" considered as such?

The Salt Lake Tribune is owned by MediaNews Group, which is headquartered in Denver, Colorado.

Are there no other radio stations in Utah besides KSL? Are there no other television stations in Utah besides KSL-TV?

Are there no other newspapers in Utah besides the Deseret Morning News and the Salt Lake Tribune?

The current editor of the Deseret Morning News (since 2006) is Joseph A. Cannon, a Mormon. His predecessor, the Pulitzer Prize-winning former editor of the Christian Science Monitor John Hughes, was not.

MediaNews Group also owns the Park City Record.

Do you think that the Church owns the Logan Herald Journal, the Ogden Standard-Examiner, the southern Utah Spectrum, and the Provo Daily Herald? Just curious.

No, to the church paying a million bucks for anything is profane. Just my little and eccentric stab at humor.
