some fun stand-up comedy
I found this on the RFM board. I especially liked the Lionel Richie stuff and the stuff at the end about sustaining callings.
Anyway, just some light, Mormon specific humor for all of you. Maybe even Ray will enjoy this. This is for you Ray!

And now I am singing that damn Lionel Richie song in my head. Get it out!!!!!

I thought that was pretty funny, too. I'm sure most, if they are smart and have thought it through, would be very happy to sustain "someone else" to do some of those jobs. I know I was back in the day. If it wasn't a teaching calling, I didn't want it.
Another thing that struck me: I've been out for 20 years and I was still laughing. I wasn't sure if I was weird or normal and hesitated before posting this because I thought someone would think it was so stupid and then I would be so embarrassed.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who was laughing at this wholesome humor. I'd still take George Carlin or Robin Williams (in his coke binging days) any day of the week. But, damn it, it was still funny. Some of this Mormon stuff inside me is never going to disappear. [sigh?]

That was funny, thanks for sharing.
I was actually in a ward once where someone opposed, so they held off until the guy was talked too, turned out to be something minor so they did the whole sustain thing over again. Only time I've ever seen it opposed.

You are welcome. I have never seen it happen myself, either.
I saw or heard it on the news when some opposed in General Conference. They didn't wait to talk to the opposers at that time of course. No redo there. Things went on as though there were no opposition. I guess that is understandable.
