TBMs and thank you notes

Post by _msnobody »

Is it common for TBMs to not send thank you notes for wedding gifts?

Typically, Mormons will only do a nice gesture if they see a potential missionary moment.

One can hope so. That is one tradition I would love to see end.

That was you as a Mormon Porter. So when do you do nice gestures now?

What do you mean? It IS the norm that thank you notes are not sent?

If that is the norm how did that happen? I can NOT imagine not sending a thank you note.

PP does do nice gestures now.

I suppose when he truly feels like it, rather than when he feels it is dictated to him that he must.

Missionaries troll the neighborhoods looking for folks doing yard work, then offer to help so that they can ask them stupid questions in a ploy to lure the unwitting non members into their cult.

I always look for folks I can help. However, as a stake missionary we were told to look for situations like that as a easy in to discuss "our kindness" a.k.a. set the hook and reel em in.

Just wondering

I've sent wedding or should I say reception/open house gifts to two RMs and have yet to get any kind of acknowledgement, except for one where Target said it had been delivered.

Most LDS do send thank-you notes. I am personally opposed to it. To me it is an excuse for people to get offended if they don't get one and do we really need another excuse for someone to get offended about a wedding?

Hmm... that is so bizarre to me!

I would offend myself if I didn't thank someone for a kindness. Actually I'd be overcome with grief and much wailing. ;)

I thought I was cuckoo... gotta tell you THAT seems nuts that it is a status quo to not thank some one.
