what five to ten books do you wish every eighteen year old LDS male would read. It could be anything from the Bible to how to understand history to books on polygamy. are there any that completely changed the way you thought about things.
mine:
People of the Lie by R. Scott Peck
In Sacred Lonliness by Todd Compton
The Discovery of Joy Richard Eyre

1) The Standard Works
2) Joseph Smith the Prophet, by Truman Madsen
3) In his Holy Name, Joseph Fielding McConkie
4) Temple and Cosmos, Hugh Nibley
5) Prophets and Prophecy, Joseph Fielding McConkie
6) Seeking the Spirit, Joseph Fielding McConkie
The Standard works, for obvious reasons. Joseph Smith, for a nice perspective and understanding of Church history. Hugh Nibley might be a bit tough for that age, but the McConkie books are great as far as a plain and simple understanding of Church Doctrine. hes every bit as direct and straightforward as his Father was. Very plain and enjoyable to read.

I don't know if these are the five, but I always push
Richard Lloyd Anderson, Investigating the Witnesses of the Book of Mormon.
So I might as well push it again here.
And, for the rest of the five, I think that I would suggest
Mark McConkie, ed., Remembering Joseph,
John W. Welch, ed., Opening the Heavens,
Hugh Nibley, The World and the Prophets,
and, oh, maybe
Parry, Peterson, and Welch, eds., Echoes and Evidences of the Book of Mormon
or some such thing.

The monks name was actually Abdul Alhazred. And I'd imagine it stinks pretty bad, being bound in human flesh and all, not to mention whats been spilled on it over the years.

The fake pop-culture one. I got the real deal. You have to have a special contact to get one. Requires that you prance around a bonfire in a loincloth chanting for five hours, then you jump into the fire and the words of the book are seared into your flesh. Using necromantic rituals you transfer the scars into a blank book and then you have a copy. Hard to acquire, goes for at least a thousand bucks on EBay.
