Brigham Youngs stance during the Utah War was to go out of your way not to kill anyone, his entire campaign consisted off cutting off supply lines, not killing US soldiers, or anyone else.

This comment reminds me of something I've read somewhere:

So far, every review I've seen has been negative. In short, this is a very poorly made film. Sean Means, the Salt Lake Tribune critic, says that it's so bad it's hysterically funny. That would be the only reason I might be tempted to rent the DVD.

Medved is not alone in his negative opinion of SD. Roger Ebert gave it zero stars, LOL. It's been a long time since I've seen him give a zero star rating. I'm not a big fan of Medved as a reviewer, he let's his conservative bias show too much, but he seems to be in line with the mainstream critics on this one. How is it possible to make a movie about Mountain Meadows and have the viewers sympathize with the Mormon church? Somehow the Evangelical makers of September Dawn pulled it off. It's unfortunate because this subject could make a fascinating movie just by sticking to the facts, and the Fancher descendants deserve a good film, but now studios will stay away from MMM for the foreseeable future after this debacle. TBMs have "The Book of Mormon Movie: Volume 1" and now the critics have September Dawn.

This movie was made by Evangelicals?????? Oh, jeez. I was all set to go see it out of curiousity, but that kind of kills the impulse. It's too bad someone hasn't made an objective movie on the subject, presenting the facts and letting the audience weigh the evidence. The church doesn't get off scott free in my opinion because it was teaching revenge in many different ways, even if BY happened to be innocent of actually giving the order, which seems dubious to me.

Yeah, this movies is being panned nearly everywhere. Soon, you will only be able to find copies at Christian Book Stores and in the Klan newsletter.

You know, I have to see it first before I can comment. Though I dare say Medved's head is as far up his own a** on this one as it is on everything else.

There is one group that is praising it (and you'll never guess which camp it's from). They even have little clips that you can use for sermons.

It's in one of the 10,000 MMM/SD threads over in the other realm (I really don't feel like finding it).

Has anyone found it on the Internet yet, for downloading?

It sounds like the DVD, even if rented, ain't gonna be worth it.
