A truly classic MA&D thread, with a zinger from cinepro

Post by _Dr. Shades »

I just saw the greatest opening post in a thread at MA&D called "Bikinis, what can I say."

A poster known as "Lamanite" shares his concern:

I just moved into a townhome that has a community swimming pool. I went the other day, and in walked one of the most attractive twenty somethings in my area wearing a bright green string bikini. She also happens to be in my ward. She then walked over to say hi. I'm at that point having a hard time remembering what she is saying, and trying to keep eye contact. She's says bye and I'm trying to look at my book and not watch her walk away (which I failed to do).

Now, I fought internally any recall of the event until now and refused to ruminate on any image that may want to resurface. It is a struggle to maintain chaste within my own mind within the course of a normal day, without some girl prancing around me 98% naked.

My question is does these young women bear any responsibility? Also, will this primal reaction ever go away for us men.(im assuming I'm not the only one).

Good questions, indeed! (or not.) Sure enough, in jumps cinepro with his characteristic rapier wit:

It's almost as if an immodest woman can become pornography to the men who see them.

As far as the urges going away, you might contact Evergreen. They are experts in helping men to overcome their urges, not matter how primal.

Knock off the snarky comments, Cinepro. If you don't have something substantive and sincere to contribute, then stay out of this thread. =Mods.

LOL!!

I rarely visit MA&D anymore (no need), but every so often there's a gem like the above that makes that occasional visit well worth it.

So, what do y'all think? How would you answer Lamanite's final two questions? And did cinepro's so-called "snarky" comments consist of anything other than what the church itself teaches?
"Finally, for your rather strange idea that miracles are somehow linked to the amount of gay sexual gratification that is taking place would require that primitive Christianity was launched by gay sex, would it not?"

I don't see anything wrong w/his comments, and they are no worse than most comments I have seen on those boards (see "favorite anti" thread). I did answer his two questions over there, but I can answer here as well...

I don't see that they do bear responsibility for my thoughts or actions because of how they are dressed. The extreme of this is (of course) in certain middle eastern countries, women are killed for being raped (as though it were their fault they were raped). Your actions are your responsibility, and no one MAKES you do anything (we control ourselves only, unless you are some crazy guy who is schizophrenic). As for his second question, my remark was, "God I hope not! That urge is what procreates the species. What happens is that you as a Man learn to control their urges to not act upon them. That is life." In other words, learn to live with it like the rest of civilized man. Just because I see a woman in a bikini doesn't mean I wanna stick it to her nor does it mean that I no longer desire my wife because I find her attractive (chances are, I would have found her attractive without the bikini on anyhow). However, not acting upon urges of the body is part of life. The need to pee is an urge. What, just because I have that urge, does that mean I should pee right then and their? Sometimes you gotta hold it.

I posted a bit on this thread (in my usual joking manner)......but seriously can't believe these guys are thinking of blaming the girls for turning them on. They need to get over themselves. If at some point a 20something hottie in a bikini doesn't turn me on I'm calling a doctor, not my local bishop for a confession.

Take out the butt plug guys and loosen up........jeez.

Well, if I walk by a bakery and am tempted by a beautiful cake in the window, it is the cake's fault for my desire.

Or maybe it is the baker's fault for creating such a lovely treat?

;-)

Nephi, I like your perspective!

Just too darn good not to make my tagline! Thanks for sharing, doc.
