Recovery from MAD

In honor of my latest banning from MAD..... I figure it's time to start a recovery from MAD thread.

So MAD is totally boring in my opinion. When two year old threads are the most interesting reads, it's time to move on.

Tell us your MAD horror stories here folks.

Yah, I was over there reading earlier (6months - 2 years old) threads... they were more interesting then what is on there now.

I'm pretty sure I've posted fewer times than I could count on one hand in the last two months over there. I just got bored. Charity says something stupid. Hammer says something outrageous. And Her Amun comes up with some obscure discussion about how something in Egyptian can kinda, sorta, if you squint be seen to support something somewhat, vaguely related to what Joseph Smith said. Smac posts articles he found on WorldNetDaily about something outrageous the gay conspiracy has done. Blah blah blah, etc. I just haven't got the interest in hearing lame Mormon apologetics anymore. It's all so retarded I can only take so much, and I've had my fill for a while.

Heh - all this rings true with me! I haven't posted there in a while either.
That said, I still have quite a bit of affection for MAD I have to say - I like a lot of the people over there. And even though I respect the no-censorship policies here more, I've also always defended their right to moderate things however they like.

But yeah, I do think there used to be a bit more scope for discussion - say - a year or two back, for whatever reason... Might be nothing more than some of the more interesting characters just not being around as much - donno.
I'm not sure if the boards have gotten less interesting, or if I'm just less interested in talking about Mormonism. Probably a bit of both. (It's not like I'm contributing much over here either these days...)

I still have a look in now and again. That latest thread about Same Sex Marriage would normally be one I'd jump right into.
But meh - I think I'm past all that...

I like a lot of those folks, also. But you're right; it has been pretty boring lately.

My FAIR/MAD horror story has been done to death.

It can be read on Shades' blog....the part before his mission diary started..if anyone is interested.

The Readers' Digest version for the newbies:

I was a Mod on FAIR. After snooping through PM's which occurred between Who Knows and myself, I was wrongly accused...by Dan G and Juliann...of sharing the identities of the FAIR Mods with the folks here on Shades...which I never did. (Ironically, Juliann ended up revealing them herself in a later thread on MAD, but that's another story entirely)

Before I could even PM my side of the story to Dan G, he banned me and my IP address mid-PM.

Needless to say, I don't have much respect for the moderation team on MAD, then and now. I still think Dan G is a jerk.

I have tunneled into MAD occasionally to see what's going on, but am never impressed, and it's just not worth the effort.

I haven't read a thread on MAD in months.

I get more than enough MAD exposure here, so despite the fact that I could get past my ban over there, I choose not to, just like I choose not to break into any given insane asylum to hang out with the inmates. Same exact thing.

Probably for the best...most of those who stuck up for me are now banned. (I think BCSpace is the only exception)

;)
