I am now a Priest

Post by _Brackite »

Hi All Here,

I am now a Priest here on the Dr. Shades Message Board. Please keep in remembrance that I am a righteous and a holy Priest; I am not an evil and wicked Priest, like the evil and wicked Priest Elkanah in the Book of Abraham. Since I am a Priest now, I am able to bless the Sacrament and baptize People. I am also now in my third year of Seminary, studying the Scripture Mastery List to get ready to go on a Mission when I become an Elder pretty soon here.

Please Look how evil and wicked this Priest Elkanah was in the Book of Abraham:

Abraham 1:

7 Therefore they turned their hearts to the sacrifice of the heathen in offering up their children unto these dumb idols, and hearkened not unto my voice, but endeavored to take away my life by the hand of the priest of Elkenah. The priest of Elkenah was also the priest of Pharaoh.
8 Now, at this time it was the custom of the priest of Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, to offer up upon the altar which was built in the land of Chaldea, for the offering unto these strange gods, men, women, and children.
9 And it came to pass that the priest made an offering unto the god of Pharaoh, and also unto the god of Shagreel, even after the manner of the Egyptians. Now the god of Shagreel was the sun.
10 Even the thank-offering of a child did the priest of Pharaoh offer upon the altar which stood by the hill called Potiphar’s Hill, at the head of the plain of Olishem.
11 Now, this priest had offered upon this altar three virgins at one time, who were the daughters of Onitah, one of the royal descent directly from the loins of Ham. These virgins were offered up because of their virtue; they would not bow down to worship gods of wood or of stone, therefore they were killed upon this altar, and it was done after the manner of the Egyptians.

How can a Priest be so evil and wicked as Elkanah was in the Book of Abraham?

Ah, you should have seen the witch that tried to turn children into ginger bread cookies. That was wrong on many levels.

Enjoy your Priesthood.

Actually, he was the priest of Elkenah. "Elkenah" was the name of the God he worshipped; it wasn't his own name.

Brackite, as a newly-minted Apostle on this board I'd like to look down my nose, I mean condescend to, I mean congratulate you on your achievement. You do know that being a Priest means you hold the keys to the ministering of angels, right? Have you seen an angel yet? If you haven't, you might want to do some soul-searching to find out in what aspect of your life you have not been faithful enough.

As for the names in the Book of Abraham, I have to laugh at the attempts to make sense of them. The Book of Abraham was one of the two really egregious things that finally tipped me over from the "I know the church is wrong on some things not necessary for my salvation, but is still "true"" side to the "actually, it's wrong about everything and isn't true at all" side.

I don't recall who first said it, but any "hits" found by apologists regarding the Book of Abraham are more a testament to the tenaciousness and hard work and imagination and inventiveness of the apologists, rather than good evidence that Joseph Smith didn't actually make it up.
Mormonism ceased being a compelling topic for me when I finally came to terms with its transformation from a personality cult into a combination of a real estate company, a SuperPac, and Westboro Baptist Church. - Kishkumen

Thanks! There is an article about the name of 'Elkenah' in the Book of Abraham. Here is the Hyperlink to that Article: Here is also an hyperlink about the Book of Abraham names:

In Reality, The idolatrous god of Elkenah in Facsimile #1, is supposed the be Anubis, the god of the Dead (or the god of embalming).
