The Steussite Guide to Dialogue

Last night, a Wimblat came to me and bestowed upon me the “Steussite Guide to Dialogue.” He (or was it a she?) instructed me that it is time to put upon the face of the earth the one and true church of the Steussites. I give unto you a revelation. He who receives it not shall get IBS.
1. It is ok to be proven wrong. In fact, it can often be more beneficial than having to be right.
2. Sarcasm is a tool, not a weapon. Those who use it as a weapon are usually tools.
3. Qualifiers are your friend.
4. Using a broad paintbrush usually causes you to get paint on yourself.
5. Sometimes an apology is the best last word.
6. It’s ok to like and respect apostates.
7. It’s ok to acknowledge the validity of something even if you don’t necessarily agree with it.
8. It’s ok to be funny… even if you’re not funny.
9. When possible, keep posts short and leave novels to the likes of Melville.
10. There is no harm in acknowledging when you hold an indefensible position.
Thus sayeth the Steuss…

Since I am diligently striving to be numbered among the Steussite number, I guess I'd better tow the party line..
*ahem*
The Steussite Guide to Dialogue is a true Guide. It is the most correct guide on Earth, and is the keystone of all our Dialogue.
You may notice some 'changes' in later editions of the guide. (For example, the word 'pain' in point 4 could get changed to, say - 'paint'...)
Such changes may cause some to doubt the divine nature of the guide.
Wo be unto such for their lack of faith...!
Follow the guide, and you will get creamed in debates by the belligerent and the unforgiv... Ermm - *ahem* I mean your wisdom will shine forth like Doc's polished saxaphone in a smoke-filled bar.
...in Doc we trust...

I disagree. If you're not funny, you shouldn't try to be funny.
If you doubt the above sentence, just see any of urroner's posts over on MAD.

A comic is only a comic when acting as such.

Am I a cuckoo that the The Steussite Guide to Dialogue brought tears to my eyes?

Ahhh, my good friend Qualifiers... People can criticize you for your multiple personalities, but I feel like it gives me more folks to talk to while only having to provide dinner for two.
