No, just denying your assertion as unproved.

Will Meyer be disciplined? I don't know. I'm sure the Church always mentally weighs these things in order to determine the pros and cons. On the one hand, Meyer's books are, quite arguably, "immoral" from a TBM perspective. On the other hand, disciplining her would stir up a lot of bad PR. A third thing to consider is the fact that she is a woman, and her books are very popular amongst females. So, would the Brethren clamp down on her, essentially using her as a "message" in order to keep LDS females in line? It certainly doesn't seem beyond the realm of possibility.

The case of an author getting "slammed" would be ex-BYU prof Brian Evenson, who was pressured to resign after a student complained to a GA about "darkness" in the author's work. Of course, Evenson doesn't (and did not) have as large of a readership as Meyer.

Now that we know what Scratch would do I have one more reason to be grateful he is not a leader in the Church.

Which one? That Marriott is one of the country's largest purveyors of porn? Or that there is a building named the Marriott Center at the BYU? Or that Marriott has never been disciplined for his porn-peddling?

That people get taken to Church courts based on celebrity status.

Just noticed you live in Dallas. I'm going to jump on the bandwagon. Wanna go to lunch sometime?

She is a publicly declared Mormon and BYU graduate.

Her novels involve pre-marital sex and tales of the undead.

Sounds a little racy for a Mormon author.

Thoughts?

I thought there was no pre marital hanky panky in the books. You sure about this? Maybe you have read them. I have no plans to.

I read the last book because all of my Molly Mormon sisters in law are in love with the series, and I wanted to see what all the hysteria was about. It looks like they don't have sex until they are actually married. But, when I read some information about the movie coming out which is based on the first book, it talked about a bed scene. From the article, it also sounded like Ms. Meyers was at least consulted regarding the movie script, and she did make a comment about not wanting to be confused with the kind of Mormon housewife who "wears denim jumpers and sneakers all the time" and that soon people realized that even though she was Mormon, she was "normal".

I hadn't heard much discussion among Church members, so I just thought I would throw this out there, and see what people thought.

I'm not sure writing about premarital sex or tales of the undead should even cause a blink for church leaders, so "no". A lot of us watch premarital sex and tales of the undead in our movie and TV entertainment and no one is holding a court on us, so I think Stephanie Meyer is safe as well.

Have you read any of Orson Scott Card's novels? They aren't all sweetness and light and he is a very respected LDS author.
