I mean he is saying we need to encourage artistic expression in our ranks and even says that a statue of a naked David is inspiring. Have times changed?

Yes, the Church Corporation is all encompassing and all powerful now. We now have stalinist art by committee. All Hail the Corporation!!!

It's interesting that he mentions a male nude sculpture. Does this imply that female nude art is also okay? It's also interesting that he picked Michelangelo of all the artists. This guy mastered the male form. Some of his female nudes look like men with breasts glued on:

I think it's an open secret that Brother Kimball was gay.

Most of the artists that fit his description would be way too liberal for people like BC Space and Droopy.

I love this quote from SWK

President John Taylor so prophesied, as he emphasized his words with this directive:

“You mark my words, and write them down and see if they do not come to pass.
“You will see the day that Zion will be far ahead of the outside world in everything pertaining to learning of every kind as we are today in regard to religious matters.
“God expects Zion to become the praise and glory of the whole earth, so that kings hearing of her fame will come and gaze upon her glory. …”

Mormons are such a humble people. I wonder when this prophecy will come to pass?

I have little problem with actual nude art. To paraphrase Potter Stewart, "Porn is hard to define, but I know it when I see it." Having said that, most sex and nude scenes in movies that I'm aware of are not art and I am fully aware that some very old or ancient works that are generally considered art today were considered to be porn at the time they were created.

But then they cover the shoulders of female angels. WTF?
