https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=p ... ByZE#t=167At 2:46 he claims "...[students] also learn that
Truth and knowledge are the foundations of faith"
WTF?

He is right. As long as it is carefully managed 'truth' and 'knowledge'.
After all, Boyd Packer himself tells us that not all things that are true are useful. Then Boyd and his buddies proceed to decide just which, and how much of the truth to tell.
In their minds they are not lying though in reality they are.

He is wrong. Faith by definition is substituting the lack of knowledge with belief.

But he is also right, in that it's only "faith" if it's for something that is "true". According to the LDS definition of "faith", you can't have "faith" for something that is false, because then it isn't "faith".
But I'm not sure how "knowledge" is a foundation of "faith". If you already have knowledge of something, then you don't need "faith". Most LDS would say that faith leads to knowledge, not the other way around.
At some point, I think some LDS just string words together that sound good without really thinking about what they're saying.

Exactly, but they can only believe it's true, they cannot know it's true. How can knowledge be a foundation of faith when it precludes having faith in the first place.

And, without thinking about if the sentence makes any sense.
