Neil A. Anderson tells the Navajo they are Lamanites.

Post by _I have a question »

The Navajo Nation is a territory defined by its vast landscapes and enchanting natural beauty.

Stretching across 27,000 square miles in sections of three states (Utah, Arizona and New Mexico), it is home to some 300,000 Navajos and Hopis.

It is also a place of rich Latter-day Saints history and activity. Two stakes (the Chinle Arizona Stake and the Tuba City Arizona Stake) and several other units from surrounding stakes operate within the Navajo Nation. Dozens of missionaries from the New Mexico Farmington Mission serve in its many wards and branches.

Many of the members are renowned for their dedication and devotion, said Elder Neil L. Andersen of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. “They are the children of Lehi and they readily embrace the Savior and the teachings of the Book of Mormon.”

Back in the 70s I knew several families with "Lamanite" foster children. My ex-wife also roomed with a "Lamanite" student who struck me (at the time) as surprisingly ambivalent about the church. But I don't believe I ever saw more than a tiny handful of active older Lamanites. Did they have their own wards or branches?

One of the places I worked on campus was BYU Travel Study. Just downstairs in our building was the Lamanite program's offices. I always wondered what they did there.

The apologists would say that the Navajos are symbolic children of Lehi, not literal. They are dark skinned, like Lamanites, and although the Navajo dark skin isn't from a curse, they have a dark skinned brotherhood with the Lamanites, wherever they are. So, what Anderson said is correct......from a certain point of view. Fortunately, I'm not an apologist, so I don't have to believe this crap.

And I hereby inform all white Utah Mormons that they are Hyperboreans.

Of course Neil A. Anderson thinks Navajos are Lamanites. Like a a good obedient Mormon, Elder Anderson has probably never even read or touched non church approved material. HAHAHA!

You people dorks as usual....

"Lamanite" is the Book of Mormon term for the Bibles "Gentile". It refers 95% of the time to everyone "non-Nephite", a.k.a. non-believers.
Only maybe some 5% of the time is the term directly referring to Laman/Lemuals group.

Further, according to the Book of Mormon, the "Lamanites" are who were left at the end..... thus therefore, Lamanites are the natives of the America's etc.

Faqs has a reading comprehension problem.

Many of the members are renowned for their dedication and devotion, said Elder Neil L. Andersen of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. “They are the children of Lehi and they readily embrace the Savior and the teachings of the Book of Mormon.”

Pay attention to "children of Lehi "....

Someone should ask Elder Anderson what happened to Lehi's DNA in all of these children of his.

No problem. He would only need to excuse himself for a moment, call PJ and get all the answers he needed. Of course, Dr. Perego may not be answering his calls, these days.
