Some general questions about General Conference.
1. What do you know now, that you didn’t know before?
2. What will you do now, that you weren’t doing before?
3. What was revealed, that wasn’t already known?
4. What was prophesied, that wasn’t already predicted?
5. Why is there a special ‘voice’ that the speakers affect when delivering their talks?
2. What will you do now, that you weren’t doing before?
3. What was revealed, that wasn’t already known?
4. What was prophesied, that wasn’t already predicted?
5. Why is there a special ‘voice’ that the speakers affect when delivering their talks?
“When we are confronted with evidence that challenges our deeply held beliefs we are more likely to reframe the evidence than we are to alter our beliefs. We simply invent new reasons, new justifications, new explanations. Sometimes we ignore the evidence altogether.” (Mathew Syed 'Black Box Thinking')

2. Nothing.
5. Didn't notice anything, but wasn't paying close attention.
For questions 1, 3, and 4, I'll answer with some observations I had, if that's alright.
My "out-there" observation is that Oaks and Callister are the moles, so to speak, of all the missteps, leaks, and other dissatisfaction with the church. I thought most of the talks were fairly benign and addressed to believers, for the most part. Oaks and Callister, however, seemed to be given to rile up the Exmos, and cause the NOMs and other fence-sitters to reevaluate their membership. Those talks weren't designed to give the struggling member something to believe in. To me, they seemed designed to cause feelings of uneasiness with the church. Or maybe they're just jackasses. Who knows. But they were definitely addressing the "orange bubbles" below.
My second observation was how many talks addressed the "green bubbles." So many talks about following the leaders, god's personal leadership, the only true way to know god's plan, and false prophets. Again, maybe it's just me, but I don't remember that many talks addressing falling away or apostasy. The church came off as scared to me, trying to retain as many as possible. Maybe that's why Oaks' and Callister's talks seemed so abrasive to me.
Anyway, for what it's worth.

Trimble, you ignorant sack of rhinoceros puss. The only thing more obvious than your lack of education is the foul stench that surrounds you.

I wondered where was the latest gimmicky saying? You know, like "every member a missionary" and "lengthen your stride" and whatever it was they said when they lowered the missionary age, and all the rest? I didn't hear one.

I think little Preston can answer that. Can't you just feel the spirit? It's time to go back to church and fill out those little yellow slips.

I love the blue bubbles. So much fun! Doing what you want on the Sabbath and no more boring church meetings. I love having a lack of commitment towards the church in seeing it's a silly organization. I'm a righteous guy and am a good citizen and obey the laws of the land. There is something for pornography in everyone, something to please the eyes and delight the senses! I encourage a good healthy dose of pornography and never mind the silly law of chastity. Live and let live, baby! Life is meant to be fun and fulfilling! Don't waste your time at church and save your money for yourself and those you love.
You'll be blessed and happy.
Amen.

Re: Some general questions about General Conference.
The object of their teaching, preaching and ministry is to do none of those things. Their mission and ministry is to call mankind to repentance, and bear witness of Jesus Christ and his restored gospel in the last days:I have a question wrote:1. What do you know now, that you didn’t know before?
2. What will you do now, that you weren’t doing before?
3. What was revealed, that wasn’t already known?

5. Why is there a special ‘voice’ that the speakers affect when delivering their talks?
D&C 6:9 “Say nothing but repentance unto this generation; . . .”
D&C 11:9 “Say nothing but repentance unto this generation. . . .”
D&C 18:14 “Wherefore, you are called to cry repentance unto this people. . . .”
D&C 19:21 “And I command you that you preach naught but repentance, . . .
D&C 19:31 “And of tenets thou shalt not talk, but thou shalt declare repentance and faith on the Savior, . . .”
Etc.

General conferences are the semiannual worldwide gatherings of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Church members gather to receive guidance and encouragement from Church leaders about gospel living based on the teachings of Jesus Christ.

My questions are valid within the context of what the Church leaders themselves claim Conference is, even if you disagree with them. I note your inability to cite a difference that conference made to you.

Which amounts to the same thing. They encourage Church members to be more faithful and obedient to the will of God, study his word and conform their lives to it, and testify of God, Jesus Christ, and the restoration of the gospel in our time.I have a question wrote:General conferences are the semiannual worldwide gatherings of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
