Another blow to the Word of Wisdom: Coffee is Good

Post by _Equality »

Even the heaviest coffee drinkers are less likely to die early than people who don’t drink coffee, new research finds.

It’s another piece of good news for coffee lovers, and it gets even better. It doesn’t matter what kind of coffee people drink — that includes decaf and instant coffee. And it also doesn’t matter what version of the “coffee gene” people have. Coffee-drinkers fared better than people who did not drink coffee.

Do Mormons live longer or die younger or are their lifespans similar to the rest of society? I remember at a young age hearing that we lived longer due to the wow. Can anyone point me to any studies done on this subject or other relevant information?

Utah typically ranks very high in "healthiest states" rankings, and the low number of smokers is usually one of the reasons cited, which makes sense. There are no studies I'm aware of that correlate coffee drinking with poor health. Utah also ranks very high in depression, suicide, porn use, and other undesirable statistics, but that's because of all the non-mormons that live there.

Loves me some coffee! Every day.

Jesus loves coffee. How do I know? He created it.

Joseph Smith loves coffee, and he drank it.

Every good Jack Mormon loves coffee.

Join the revolution. Join the healthy, wealthy, and wise.

Run when others are weary. Be perky when others are faint.

Coffee.

Wait This can't be true. Are you saying that when God the almighty creator of the universe told Joseph Smith, to avoid hot drinks, which was later interpreted by Heber J. Grant to mean Coffee and Tea that God got it wrong? God is such a jokester...always clouding reality with His confusing ways. Sometimes I just instead wish he had told Joseph to wash is hands and boil his water instead of ban hot drinks a.k.a. coffee and tea.

Schlendrian
You naughty child, you wild girl,
ah! When will I achieve my goal:
get rid of the coffee for my sake!

Liesgen
Father sir, but do not be so harsh!
If I couldn't, three times a day,
be allowed to drink my little cup of coffee,
in my anguish I will turn into
a shriveled-up roast goat.
4. Aria S
Ah! How sweet coffee tastes,
more delicious than a thousand kisses,
milder than muscatel wine.
Coffee, I have to have coffee,
and, if someone wants to pamper me,
ah, then bring me coffee as a gift

I guess we just add this to the ever growing list of things Joseph Smith got wrong.

It’s a myth that abstaining from coffee and alcohol lets Mormons live longer. It just feels longer...
