https://newsroom.churchofjesuschrist.or ... rld-reportThe latest edition of the World Report, a biannual compilation of news from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, is now available on Church Newsroom and YouTube.
The October 2021 edition shares how Latter-day Saint Charities, the humanitarian arm of the Church, helped quell the spread of COVID-19 with a $20 million donation to support UNICEF’s role in the Access to COVID-19 Tools (ACT) Accelerator.
This from an institution that cannot convince a significant portion of its own members to be vaccinated.
$20 million represents 0.33% of the interest the Church received during Covid year 2020 on one part of it’s invested funds (EPA) - the Church didn’t spend any of the received interest during 2020. Nor any of the invested capital. Not 1 cent. Why is the Church publicly patting itself on the back for spending such a relatively insignificant amount, yet keeping quiet on the eye watering gains it made in stocks and shares?
This announcement is the equivalent of a man who earned $60,000 of interest in 2020 on his liquid invested funds of $1,000,000, taking out an advert in the paper to proclaim his one-off charitable donation of $198 to UNICEF.
