Mike Parker considered suing…well…someone, over the Richard Nygren affair…

I have spoken with two attorneys about the defamatory claims made about me. They both agreed that what these individuals have written is repulsive, but they also both independently counseled me against taking legal action due to the difficulties of proving libel in Utah courts and the foreseeable expenses of protracted litigation.

Considering he goes on to admit he was complicit by his failure to correct the suggestion (see below) it would have been interesting to see him sue…someone…for defamation. Presumably Boylan was the person he should sue because it was he who instigated the offensive charade which Parker failed to correct.
On July 19, 2022, I posted a link to the Boylan/Kraus interview. At that time, my real identity was not known publicly, so any attempt on my part to address Boylan’s “Richard Nygren” comment would have been untrue (if I confirmed it) or confusing (if I denied it). Instead, I simply wrote that the interview “goes into more detail about this blog than I’m comfortable with.”

Mike “Peter Pan” Parker ought to take a moment and consider what defamation entails, and hope others don’t decide to sue him and whoever hosts his hate blog for defamation.

You ask too much of him...... people of his ilk can only ever see one side alone as true, theirs.

He should sue himself.

I wonder how receptive a Utah jury would be to hear a case involving someone with an anonymous blog dedicated to attacking the Mormon foundational story?

I'd like to talk to those two attorneys to find out what they really said about the claims made about him.
This affair merely demonstrates how gullible some anti-Mormons are, how incapable they are of assessing evidence, and how quick they are to libel people with whom they disagree based upon nothing more than rumors and gossip.
Yeah . . . rumors and gossip spread by Robert Boylan.

Obviously, whatever the conversation was is privileged.

But reading between the lines, and adding my experience, there's a good chance the thought behind that was "you don't have a case, but I'll still say something sympathetic because I don't want you to believe I'm being completely dismissive."

Many lawyers have enough tact to not tell a prospective client that they're a damned idiot. So they'll instead sympathetically nod their head and tell you how you got a raw deal while at the same time declining to take the case.

If it were a good case, and if there were actual damages, he could find a lawyer. That he claims to have explored legal action and isn't is telling.

Dollars to donuts that’s exactly what happened.

1000 percent. As well as every other time DCP has consulted a lawyer about “defamation on the obsession board.”

I refuse to part with my donuts.
