Prophets, Seers and Revelatory speak/write about the time and land they live in:
In Isaiah's time the King of Israel and the King of Syria were conspiring to take over Judah. You can find the writing in the
Book of Isaiah Chapters 1-39.
After the Cyrus released the Jews to return to Jerusalem, many left and rebuilt the temple. That's in chapters 40-66. This was after Isaiah's time.
Today, President Nelson and the prophet, seers and revelatory don't talk about what is going to happen in 500 years but issue the Proclamation On The Family. They talk about today.
In Joseph Smith's day he spoke about what was going on around him. He wrote about the land around him: the Niagara Falls area. His prophesy about world war breaking out in 1832 did not come to fruition. Emma being destroyed by not accepting polygamy did not come to fruition.
When so-called prophets, seers and revelators speak about something in the future they should just draw lots to see if it comes to pass.
