Dr. Dan Peterson, plagiarizing from a 100-year old book, "New Light on American Archaeology," https://babel.hathitrust.org/cgi/pt?id= ... 7359&seq=5 visits Guatemala along with Brant Gardner, another faithful RLDS and CofC Scholar.
We arrived on Sunday night in Tapachula, a city that is located in the far southeast of the state of Chiapas, México, near the Pacific Ocean and the Guatemalan border, and that several scholars have suggested as a likely candidate for the land of Lehi’s “first inheritance.”
The likely Scholar, Dr. Dan doesn't reveal, but it's Louis Edward Hills, who died in June 1925 about 6 months after publishing his last book in 1924.

This book only cost $1.00 USD back in 1924 when it was advertised in The Saints' Herald, published in Independence, MO.
But you learn about it for free (with an Internet connection) at Sic Et Non.

Dr. Dan and Gardner, faithful RLDS and CofC Scholars (let's throw in Restoration Branch just to be safe) will be your guides as they tour Reorganized Geography lands for The Book of Mormon, in Guatemala.
Brant Gardner, who is along with us as an Interpreter Mesoamerican expert, quipped onsite today that, for many years, the Latter-day Saint rule for distinguishing purportedly Nephite archaeological ruins from purportedly Lamanite ruins boiled down to this principle: Beautiful or spectacular ruins were Nephite, while ugly or unimpressive sites were Lamanite.
Continuing with his Reorganized Geography for The Book of Mormon, published in 1924 in Independence, Missouri, Dr. Dan alluded to this scholar who suggested Chiapas, México as Lehi's "first inheritance."

Dr. Dan - with his fantasies, compares the Rio Grijalva - named after a Spanish Conquistador - with the "Lord of The Rings."
This is due to the silly imaginations of his heart, which makes Dr. Dan merry.

Hopefully, Dr. Dan and Brant Gardner, being the faithful RLDS and CofC/Restoration Branch scholars that they truly are, will share with you the maps and books by Louise Edward Hills.

Maybe on their next trip to Mexico and Guatemala, they can invite the CofC members belonging to the https://hillcumorahexpeditionteam.com/ HillCumorahExpeditionTeam.com

Who said it first tells me nothing about whether a view or understanding is right or wrong or good or bad.

I get the impression you are clueless about where the Book of Mormon events took place.

I suppose you believe a copyrighted book from 1924 indicates where The Book of Mormon took place. As well as L.E. Hills' first map, copyrighted on April 6, 1917 - the day the United State Congress declared war on Germany.

Of course, you could always use your brain and quote The Prophet Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowdery, even if you don't believe in them.

Agreed. LE Hills is beginning to become nothing more than a spammer here, unfortunately.

Poor little soul. I point out fake Geography and its source promoted for decades by F.A.R.M.S. and you claim it's spamming.

I would think you anti-Mos would support Dan Peterson in his promoting a fallacy.

But you're all so biased you attack anything dealing with "Mormonism" even fake reorganized geography - which makes Dan look like your victims.
Then all Dan's disciples think Dan is promoting truth because some Apostates are attacking him.

Well, he must promoting truth if everyone on the Dan Peterson Obsession Board is attacking him!

ALL Book of Mormon geography is fake.

The only geography discussion worth reading is Shulem's, in which he explains how the Book of Mormon "geography" came out of the imagination of Smith, who used a map of Delmarva to keep his imaginary tales straight.

Amen. In the name of Joseph Smith.

I can see why Peterson is so keen to promote a South American setting for the Book of Mormon, Interpreter makes money from tours on the back of it. It’s a bit like a pump & dump racket. Generate the idea that the Book of Mormon happened in Guatemala, then sell tours to show people the “evidence”. Great scheme if you can find dupes to fall for it.

At least Dr. Peterson's tour group got to see the Nephite sites. I hope he was provided with a sedan chair for this tour; otherwise, changing the tour to the Delmarva Peninsula might be easier for the tour groups and guides in the future.
