LDS church matching Giving Machine donations?

Will this be the year the charity vending machines known as “Giving Machines” will advertise that the LDS church will match dollar-for-dollar every donation made?
Or will the church continue to take the credit for millions of dollars in charity that they themselves didn’t have to spend? The numbers appear to be rather small, a total amount raised of less than 20 million dollars over the several years they have been operating.
For a church worth close to a trillion dollars, that’s essentially a rounding error.

drumdude, perhaps you could expand to clarify for some of of us like me.
I have no idea what a giving machine is and no idea what matching dollars are or are not made. What are these millions of dollars in charity that the church didn't have to spend but took credit for?

Do we know the name of the company that produces and manages the Giving Machines?
My understanding is that this year the machines will be “staffed” by volunteer members who will be primed to act like missionaries.

The company is called “Boncom.” Same group that came up with the Tabernacle Choir rebranding, Mormon.org, I’m a Mormon (Satan must have been cheering) and others.

What would make you think that the Church would match any donations?

They do have a pretty consistent track record of responding to public pressure.
