A like button. similar to Facebook, but not formatted like the MAD board where posters acquire rep. points.

Sometimes I would like to acknowledge someones good comment, but don't want to clutter up the thread with a new post for a simple :D

It can be done. It depends on what version we are using. Here is a good link for initial research:

There’s a much newer forum software that has a lot of modern features, including @posterName notifications, embedded YouTube videos, and reactions like thumbs up, laughing, etc.

It’s called discourse.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Discourse_(software)

I highly recommend it, as someone who was in a similar sized forum that migrated from this same older forum software to discourse. They even managed to keep all the old posts seamlessly.

X/Twitter and YouTube videos are doable as well as subscript, superscript text.

Happy to share me codes, and am interested is some good spoiler code if anyone is so inclined.

Looks like a great idea. I am on board if the software is really much better and we can keep all the old posts.

I have found Discourse to be a little buggy when you are trying to use your phone. Several groups that I use Discourse for, I can only access via computer. They don’t synch up well with the Discourse app. Now, I have not actually administered or back coded in Discourse, so those bugs might exist due to how whomever is administrating those sites have things lined up.

I think that a worthwhile feature to add to this board is a grammar check. It can help members get their point across and help eliminate run on sentences that can distract from actual content. Here is a link to some PHP freeware for this:
