Federal PPP loans (gifts) were given to the following Mopologetic organizations:

Total aid to Mopologetic organizations is close to $600,000.

https://www.pandemicoversight.gov/ppp-s ... ch-landing ) And, just this morning, the same person forwarded a link on to me that, it is suggested, indicates that the Sunstone Foundation, a “liberal” to dissenting to outright apostate organization on the fringe of the Church (whose Executive Director is paid $85,000 per year and served as the “historical consultant” to the hit Netflix miniseries American Primeval), received $65,000 from American taxpayers.
I’m not actually sure what to make of the items that were sent to me but, if the claim is accurate that they received money from USAID — which, I confess, seems really bizarre to me, since I have known USAID only as an (admittedly rather inefficient, ham handed, and ineffective) foreign aid operation overseas — that would be both massively outrageous and neatly illustrative of the tilted playing field upon which defenders of the Church are obliged to operate.
Does anybody know anything more about possible USAID subsidies to John Dehlin and to the Sunstone Foundation? Is this conceivably real? I’ll admit to being deeply skeptical. I’m loath to believe it. Some things are just too bad to be true. I would need more and better evidence.

If accurate, I wonder how many who donate to that charity know that 1 million dollars is being funneled to Mopologists.

This is very interesting, Drumdude: thank you for alerting us to this disturbing fact. It does not surprise me that the Mopologetic organizations are engaging in the gathering up of “filthy lucre.” Of course they are.
A little over a month into 2025, it would appear that Mopologetics has gone into a tailspin. DCP has ceased to boast about Mormon Interpreter’s vitality: it’s a tacit admission that he was wrong all along about the publication “streak.” And it just gets worse! Now the Mopologists are resorting to straight-up retreads! Wasn’t the post on SeN the other day a complete duplicate of an old post that had already been re-used many times? And today the Afore is touting a re-run of Hales & Peterson’s craptastic CES article? Do these rubes have nothing new to say?
Interpreter has always been a shambolic pipe dream. These latest developments only serve to underscore the obvious.

It is interesting that the Mopologetic organisations that have wetted their beak at the expense of the Federal Treasury, haven't shared that source of funding with the Interpreter's President. They've kept a potential source of funding secret from him.

The Afore links to a Twitter page clearly showing that John Dehlin received
PPP benefits during COVID, which stands for the Paycheck Protection Program. It was a COVID program that gave forgivable loans to businesses that agreed not to fire or slash their payroll.
The PPP program had nothing to do with USAID. Only a complete moron would confuse the two completely different programs.
About 1 million businesses/organizations/charities in the U.S. took PPP benefits, totaling almost 1 trillion dollars:
