Trump - Will the Church speak out?

In 1930’s and 1940’s Germany the Church, and the Church membership, had an opportunity to take a public stand in opposition to the tyranny of Adolf Hitler and the Nazi party. Apart from one or two isolated examples of brave individuals, that opportunity was not taken.

Now, in 2025, America has elected a convicted sex offender as President and he is hell bent on running a tyrannical campaign. Will the Church speak out against the immorality of Trump and his Presidential actions? Will Church members stand up and assist immigrants in their fight to stay in America? Will the Church and its members live up to their stated principles in public? Or will those 15 old men in Salt Lake City stay silently complicit like they did in 1930’s Germany?

So far the Church looks to be repeating past mistakes.

They could have remained absent from the inauguration as a protest against electing an immoral sex offender to the office of President. Instead they supported it. And with an Apostle who is the product of an immigrant family. You cannot make this up.

Did they support it by attending it?

Of course.
Elders Gary E. Stevenson and Gerrit W. Gong of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles represented the church at events and meetings surrounding the inaugural ceremonies for Trump and Vice President JD Vance.

“Being in Washington, D.C., at such a time as this is an honor,” Elder Stevenson said in the statement.

Donald Trump's administration has ordered all federal government departments to dismantle their diversity programmes.
All those who work for such programmes have been placed on paid leave.
A memo issued late last night said departments should inform employees of the closures by the end of the day.
The action comes a day after the US president issued a series of executive orders to end the schemes, which aim to promote opportunities for women, ethnic minorities and LGBTQ+ people.

Will the First Presidency issue a statement about this immoral action?

Donald Trump has hit back at the bishop of Washington after she lectured him on immigration and the fear felt by many LGBT+ families across the country during a televised church service yesterday.
Trump and his vice president JD Vance sat stony-faced as Bishop Mariann Edgar Budde asked them to "have mercy" on those who are scared during the national prayer service yesterday.
In a late-night post on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump called her a "radical left hardline Trump hater" and said she was "nasty in tone, and not compelling or smart".
"She brought her church into the World of politics in a very ungracious way," he said.
"Apart from her inappropriate statements, the service was a very boring and uninspiring one. She is not very good at her job. She and her church owe the public an apology."

At least one religious leader has the courage of her convictions. The First Presidency, not so much…

Are you saying the Church cannot get behind this and exhort BYU faculty to exemplify this spirit in their Musket Fire?

Of course they won't speak out. They aren't actually prophets.

Just a reminder that John the Baptist was beheaded for speaking out against the immorality of Herod Antipas, because that is what prophets do.

If LDS leaders didn't speak out against Trump after January 6th, they aren't going to start now.

I think the First Presidency will be secretly delighted by Trump's activity on transgender and gender diversity.

Imagine the tithing bump if the Mormons could convert Elon Musk.

Of course not, they PAID HIM to go this route, it is the same people the church can't stand.......
they can now say "See? Trump is inspired of the Holy Ghost! He goes after the same ones WE do as prophets, seers, revelators, and translators! This is proof that no unhallowed hand can stop our work the work of the Lord."
