What Will the LDS Church Do?

Post by Kishkumen »

We are at a crossroads, and so is the LDS Church. Now that the President has denied legal residents the due process guaranteed by the Fifth Amendment of the Constitution, and he has defied the Supreme Court decision ordering him to facilitate the return of Ábrego García, the President has shown that he will not respect the rule of law or follow the Constitution. Those who want to live in this circumstance of American imperial monarchy, where the sycophancy and tyranny of North Korea is wedded to the kleptocracy of Putin, and the military might of the world's sole superpower, will be fine with this.

But what will Latter-day Saints do?

Will they replace their God and their prophet with Trump?

Or will they continue to worship and obey God first, listen to their prophet first, and revere the divinely inspired Constitution?
77 According to the laws and constitution of the people, which I [God] have suffered to be established, and should be maintained for the rights and protection of all flesh, according to just and holy principles;

*****

80 And for this purpose have I [God] established the Constitution of this land, by the hands of wise men whom I raised up unto this very purpose, and redeemed the land by the shedding of blood.
Now that we know that Trump disdains the divinely inspired Constitution of the United States of America, which was established by God, what will Latter-day Saints do with that knowledge?

In my view, every Latter-day Saint who remains loyal to Trump from now on has placed him above God, the prophet, the holy scriptures, and the divinely established Constitution. I don't see any wiggle room in this. So what does the Latter-day Saint faith mean, if it is so easily tossed aside by those who claim to be good Latter-day Saints? Who will now make the case that the time has come when good Latter-day Saints must place their faith before their political loyalty to a tyrant?

This may seem like a non-Terrestrial forum question, but I think it absolutely must be considered in the Terrestrial forum. Trump has declared war on the divinely established Constitution. Why would any faithful Latter-day Saint who understands their religion continue to support Trump? Will the leaders of the LDS Church, who promote these LDS principles of liberty and Constitutional government, as set down in their holy scriptures, remain silent?

Do we want a repeat of the LDS Church's record in Nazi Germany?

Deeply profound reflections Kish. I am VERY interested to see what DCP will tell his fellow apologist saints who support Trump. If he will stand up for God and Constitution or not. This does appear to be a REAL Constitutional crisis being caused by a tyrant, and the Saints are said to be the ones to save it as it hangs by a thread. If it is not hanging now by that thread, how the hell much more can Trump trample everything sacred in our country before EVERYONE steps up and says ENOUGH! How does Trump continue to be able to waste away our country without being held accountable is flabbergasting to me. WHERE is Nelson when he is needed?!

LDS leaders advocated for vaccination. They could easily advocate for the rule of law.

I think they will continue to stay silent. They don’t want to bother the members, and they don’t want to lose the support of right wing America.

It’s the sure sign that Jesus has nothing to do with the LDS church.

Trump’s close friend and confidant Steve Bannon, stated on Sunday that Trump will be running for a third term.

“F” THAT. We have to RISE and stop the insanity. Goddammit he needs to just do his damned job, not worry about an impossible 3rd term. He is not God, I don't give a damn what MAGA says, the idiots. It is entirely UNCONSTITUTIONAL for this to happen. Man America we are being RUINED by this idiot Godless twit.

Some Mormons will speak up against Trump's tramplings--in fact several have spoken up already. Others, in a greater number, are cheering the Second Coming of Trump as if the Second Coming of Jesus. Yet others remain quiet, holding their opinions to themselves, only manifesting either way in the ballot box.

As an institution, the LDS Church will remain silent. It does not want to offend or get punished, such as the way Harvard University is. Trump could, in his revenge against the LDS Church speaking up, strip the LDS Church of its tax exempt status, or require it divest its vast holdings down to just that necessary for its religious purposes and put the rest in a taxable corporation.

If the Widow's Mite has taught us anything, it is that the LDS Church, like Harvard University, has the financial wherewithal to stand up to Donald Trump. Is this not the rainy day that God inspired the prophets to save up for? I think so.

I expect them to do so. I will be watching out for it.

DCP has been pretty open about his opposition to Trump. My respect for him increased exponentially as a result. Whatever faults he has, DCP is no fool, unlike many LDS people who go against the holy scriptures and support Trump, enemy of Constitutional government.

That's good news. I confess, I haven't kept up with him for the last several months. I may have to go bop in every now and again.
