The report…
Elder Brent Blackburn, 68, died on Saturday, Aug. 23, near Gallatin, Missouri. He was operating a lawn mower on the grounds of the church’s Adam-ondi-Ahman historic site, riding the mower on a side hill when it overturned, according to the church.

Elder Blackburn has been serving with his wife, Sister Carolyn Blackburn, at the site since April 2025. They are from the Helper Utah Stake.
Had the Church employed professional groundskeepers that would not have happened. Instead they got a 68 year old man to used his own retirement time and money to do a job a professional should be doing, and now he is tragically dead.

Juxtapose this with the Mexico Mission president who survived the gunshot wound and claimed it was a angels protecting him. I am glad he survived but they did say they realize this isn't how it turns out for everyone. This right here is the great puzzle that miracles present.

Well, at least he was able to leave this world doing what he loved most. Namely, providing free labor for a sex cult.

How many of us will truly be able to say the same when it is our turn to leave?

Maybe a different kind of free "labor for a sex cult" would have been a happier end for him.

"... would have given him a happy ending"?

I think the point here is that if you are going to assert a belief that God or Jesus or the Holy Spirit intervened in some way to stop the paid Mission President dying, then you are morally obligated to explain why God or Jesus or the Holy Spirit didn’t intervene in some way to stop the unpaid senior garden services provider.

The fact is that the interventions of God or Jesus or the Holy Spirit work on the same basis as getting correct answers from a magic 8 ball, or in the same way as chance, coincidence, luck etc. If this man had children or grandchildren, they have been deprived of him in their lives simply because the Church coerced them into spending their time providing unpaid gardening services away from their home, instead of spending their old age enjoying time with their family.

A groundskeeper might cost the LDS corporation 0.0000001% of its rainy day fund. You can't expect them to bear that burden.

These older seniors typically claim they are overjoyed with serving a second and sometimes third missions. The draw to serving is much stronger than the draw to be associated with their families. They seem to keep this idea that they will get all kinds of time in the after life to associate with their grand kids. I don't know why else they would do it other than the fact they don't like kids.

Yes, mowing a Church lawn for free is seen as more important use of time than spending it with family. But ironically the Church will laurels as a family Church.

If faced with the need to hire a paid lawn crew, will the Church close the Adam-ondi-Ahman Temple or simply make the volunteers sign an iron-clad refusal to sue guarantee?
