What the heck is up with eBay?

Okay, this is more of a rant/complaint than an inquiry.

Occasionally, I buy something off eBay. Maybe 4x's a year if that. I don't bid in auctions, I just use the "Buy it Now" option.

So, I've been emailing one particular seller asking the same question over and over again and never got a response. Thus the "over and over again" part.

I looked on my eBay account and there was an "alert". So, I check it out and get this, it says I changed my email address.

Soooooo...I go to the "profile" and sure enough, there's a different/bogus email address there! I had to jump through some hoops to fix it.

How in the world does that happen? I know for a fact that no family member did this. So, what is up with that?
