Robert Dole, a man ahead of his time
While most of mainstream America sat comfortably insulated from the poverty and chaos that lay south of the border, I was serving as a Latin American missionary in 1996. I often reflected on the sacrifices that freedom and prosperity demanded. I knew our country was in for trouble spilling over from the south, but what impressed me was that so did Bob Dole. He knew we needed a wall, maybe even the national guard to secure our border. A man of moral character and bearer of the "purple heart," sadly he was not the astute politician that was the smooth talking and handsome Bill Clinton. Bill Clinton knew that the American people were oblivious to the scourge that lied to the south, and that ignorance included many conservative republicans as well as many elitist Republicans such as the Bush family that stood to benefit from the further separation of rich and poor in America. Clinton understood the short sightedness and lack of moral turpitude in the American people. He knew that a little bit of Robin Hood went a lot further with a morally bankrupt society than the moral consistency, exemplary life, and true American virtue not unlike Washington or Lincoln that was Bob Dole.
And when the confederates saw Jackson standing fearless as a stone wall the army of Northern Virginia took courage and drove the federal army off their land.
