I have a friend who interviewed BHO for his radio program and also know a bit about Illinois and Chicago politics in general. It will be interesting to see how expectations pan out. There were a lot of upset people who didn't get their free house and great job after Mandela took over South Africa. As one who more or less swallows the doctrine of "crowding out" hook, line, and sinker, I don't really see hope for "job creation" that has some kind of great benefit. But I'll take that over the costs of extended world policing and wars. I think the only thing we can really hope for is that his charisma and inspiration to a large chunk of those who voted for him will pay off in the form of some kind of national placebo effect.

I mean, c'mon, he's got limited power, it's not like the guy is heading up the federal reserve.

These are the kinds of people who will give away every freedom and liberty they have, along with the freedoms of their fellow citizens, in an orgy of emotional catharsis at the thought of the gorging at the national teet and the degree they will be able to reach into the pockets of their fellow citizens they believe Obama will inaugurate and maintain.
