Obamacare: Economic lessons learned again.

Post by _bcspace »

Report says health care will cover more, cost more

As predicted. But anyone with rudimentary economic education could've done the same. No minor in econ required:

Whenever you socialize something, costs go up:

But the analysis also found that the law falls short of the president's twin goal of controlling runaway costs, raising projected spending by about 1 percent over 10 years.

What did I say was part of the reason? Reduction in Medicare, forcing premium payers to foot the biil:

That increase could get bigger, since Medicare cuts in the law may be unrealistic and unsustainable, the report warned.

And what else happens when you set price controls? Supply goes down:

In particular, concerns about Medicare could become a major political liability in the midterm elections. The report projected that Medicare cuts could drive about 15 percent of hospitals and other institutional providers into the red, "possibly jeopardizing access" to care for seniors.

Are you certain that those with good intentions are indeed be a threat to the profit margin? If so, perhaps the Fox Advocacy Group could rally against these kind of people more than ever.

It's like this.

The fantasy about cost savings was based on cost-cutting measures that have no chance of ever being implemented.

VAT, here we come. We are so screwed.
