Was his fatal flaw the notion that he portrayed his opinion as fact and not just opinion?

Imagine an unhinged member of this forum calling another forum member's employer and ranting about how terrible his fellow forum member is. Would that be perfectly acceptable so long as the unhinged qualifies everything he says to the employer as his personal opinion?

I'll also point out that there is no equivalent to Alex Jones on the Left. Nowhere. Not even close. Same is true for Tucker Carlson. They're openly and brazenly propagandists for all things Republican and there is no bar too low that they're not willing to crawl under to get their agenda through.

I don't have a view on this matter because I didn't see anything he said about it; I only heard about it second hand. By the time I got curious enough to tune in to his show, he was already admitting that it did indeed happen.

No, because the unhinged member hunted down the employer and figuratively shouted it into his ear. He wasn't passively opining (stating?) it on his own platform with the employer just so happening to stumble across it.
