Story time! Part suspected health care cuts/part funny

When I was a kid, I had a few unrelated surgeries. The after-effects of standard anesthesia were terrible for me. Even years later, walking down the hall at school, somebody sprayed some kind of throat spray in the hall that had the same artificial strawberry smell, which was the same smell from the mask (I got to pick the flavor) and I had some kind of panic attack and almost blacked out.

So, later I had a sinus-related procedure, and they assumed I was going under but I asked if there were other options. They said sure, but... There was no question, I wasn't going under. So morphine + nembutal + ??? I can never remember the third one. Maybe Vicodin. One thing I can tell you is that none of that stuff cuts off pain, it hurt like hell, but I was glad I did it that way because no sleeping issues after that. I didn't particularly like it though. No chance I'd get addicted to that stuff.
