As a barometer, Jackson voted with the majority and Barrett wrote the dissent. No clean ideological split.

The Speaker should be getting appropriations bills passed rather than mouthing off about court opinions he likely hasn’t read.

Compare and contrast with the Chevron Doctrine case. That one was based on the plain language of a statute passed by Congress. In the obstruction case, the majority ignored the plain language of a statute. The only consistency was the Court taking power from both of the other branches. This is the most activist court I have seen.

I remember the term "activist court" would have Utah Republicans seeing red when they fumed over the Brown v. Board of Education decision. It was a demonic charge back then and now it is a win for Republicans. I think a young Dallin Oaks may have written a practice brief in favor of the Topeka Board of Education.
